iPhone XS keeps going to lock screen

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. I understand that you are having issues with your phone going back to the lock screen when you're trying to read an article. I'd like to help. First, if you haven't already, try these steps:

• Close the apps you're using to search for and read articles: How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
• Restart your iPhone
• Check Settings > Display & Brightness > Auto Lock; verify this set long enough so that the screen won't dim and lock if you're just reading and not scrolling or interacting with the screen.
• Test for the behavior.

Next, use the steps titled "Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again" in the following resource to reinstall iOS to your device. These steps remove the iOS currently installed and replace it with a fresh copy; be sure to closely follow step four and choose to "Update" in order to prevent data loss: If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
