HDR readiness of Apple Lightning Digital A/V adapter

I’m wondering if the official Apple adapter allows for HDR HDMI output to an HDR-compatible screen, assuming the phone supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 playback.

I’m considering both cases: an iPhone with a true HDR screen and one of the iPhones that utilize dithering to simulate HDR.

From what I know, HDR requires HDMI 2.0 compatibility and I can’t seem to find information on whether the adapter supports it or not.

Hello MoBin98,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I understand you want to know about using HDR with an adapter on your iPhone. I'll explain as much as is available.

The adapter does not specifically mention any HDR support, so it might not work when mirroring the screen of the iPhone to view in HDR on the TV: Lightning Digital AV Adapter - Lightning to HDMI - Apple

You might still be able to view the content in HDR directly from the iPhone, if it supports it, or use another supported device with the TV: Find and watch movies with 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos

Thanks.
