Hey tcadaniel,

I see that your iPhone automatically installed the latest version of iOS even though your automatic updates settings is set to 'off' and I'd like to help!

Do you recall hitting the install option on your iPhone or when you connected your device to a computer? Sometimes, these options can come up and it's possible to accidentally install the update without realizing it.

Please keep in mind that automatic updates option will still download the latest iOS when your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. It shouldn't install it though without your permission. You're welcome to delete the iOS that's been downloaded onto your device.

Same happened to me, my husband and my sister! And I’m sure many many many others! We were Never going to accept this update due to the Covid tracking BS that was included in the update. They obviously wanted to make sure everyone was traceable. So, you’re not crazy... you didn’t “accidentally” accept the update! They’re fully in control of our phones, and it’s scary!

Exactly! I was never going to do this update. I’m shocked because Apple always pushes how great they are at keeping things private. Now what, if I’m in traffic and the car beside me has someone that has Covid I’m going to be exposed? How about the store, someone on the other side of an isle is positive, so now I need to quarantine? This is an insane idea. I understand that Apple claims you need to download and app and turn it on but given that they forced the update on me, I’m not feeling real confident.
