I have a third generation apple tv after telephone call with apple support it turns out that I can not use it with App TV + because it will not connect up with I Tunes Store using my ID and my password. If I order a new App TV can I get a trade in credit on my new one.
No, there is no trade in credit on Apple TVs. However you can sell it if you want.

Yesterday when before I learned that I can't use my apple TV to connect to Apple + I ordered the 7 day free trial with Apple + if I order a new one I get a year free, so should I cancel the free trial if I order a new Apple TV or will that be done automatically
The offer is no longer valid if one had previously subscribed. Cancelling your current trial/subscription, would not change that. You would have to contact Apple to see about an exception, but it would be within their discretion and I haven't seen many reports of it happening.
