Remove Event from Contacts Calendar

So, in my contacts, I can create an anniversary. When I create that anniversary, it automatically shows up in my calendar as part of my "contacts calendar." I can't find a way to delete the event from my iphone calendar app. I can delete the anniversary from the my contacts, but after deleting that, the anniversary still remains in my calendar app. I also have a mac that is synced to my iphone and these anniversaries also show up on my mac calendar. However, when I delete an anniversary through my contacts, it does get deleted on my mac. So, my question is, how can i delete an anniversary on my iphone? when I click on the event, there is no edit or delete button like a normal calendar event.

Hey Ncy42,

I completely understand your concern. To verify, what account is this contact associated with? If it’s not iCloud, try creating a test contact in iCloud and see if you can add and remove the anniversary from the calendar on that contact without any issue.

If it is in iCloud, visit iCloud.com from a computer and see if the even shows there. If it does not, go to Settings > Your Name > Calendar on your iPhone, and turn off Calendars there. Restart your iPhone and turn Calendars back on. See if it updates.

If it's a 3rd-party calendar, go to Settings > Passwords & Accounts, tap on the affected account and turn off Calendars. Restart and enable that calendar again. See if it's gone from your iPhone.

Regards.

Hey there Ncy42,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re having issues removing an anniversary from your iOS Calendar. I’ll be happy to help.

Open the Calendar app up and tap on Calendars at the bottom center. Do you see the option to hide the Contact Calendar there?

If not, force close the Calendar app and restart your iPhone:

How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Restart your iPhone

Then check for any updates to iOS:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Check if the event is now gone or if you can remove it. If you still can’t, delete the contact card for the contact the anniversary is associated with and restart your iPhone. See if the anniversary is gone. If so, create a new contact card for this person.

I hope this helps.

Take care.

I don’t want to just hide the calendar. I would like to keep the anniversaries I have from my contacts. But if for some reason I choose to delete an anniversary in my contacts, it remains only in my iPhone calendar app and only in my iPhone calendar. My iPhone is up to date, I’ve tried restarting my phone and the anniversary is still there.

I don’t want to just delete the contact card. I have other anniversaries/details in the contact card that I don’t want to lose. It’d be a real to recreate some of my contact cards. Is there anyway I can remove a single anniversary from my iPhone calendar?
