Everytime I try to update apps in iTunes I get the following error. I was hoping iTunes 9.2.1 would fix this bug!

I'm trying an experiment, will need to wait for the next set of app updates to see if it works:

First, quit from iTunes. Then, in a Terminal window, type:

mv ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.iTunes/ ~/Desktop/

Then start up iTunes again.

This just moves the iTunes cache file out of the way to force iTunes to rebuild its cache. The old cache file(s) are then visible on your desktop, in case you need to recover it again later, or you decide to drop it into the trash to delete it.

Like I said, I don't know if this works or not yet, will watch and see. Also, don't hold me liable for following this advice, you are responsible for the result.

Well, this doesn't let Apple off the hook. There's still a bug BUT I've had success now with checking the "remember password in keychain" checkbox when iTunes asks for my password before downloading updates. I don't really WANT to do this as that means anyone sitting in front of my iTunes can download media($) into my account ... BUT this seems to prevent the "outdated" error from appearing and wasting my time.

Is everyone else here NOT storing their password? If so maybe this will help. If not then maybe I just got lucky...or the problem will re-appear soon...

When will Apple finally fix this? I have been dealing with this issue for months and finally took the time to look up the error message. It at least feels better that I am not alone.

I have an iMac, my husband has a PC. I am having the problem, but he is not. We both have the most up to date versions of itunes. We both update our apps practically on a daily basis.

I wish Apple would respond...

Thanks!

I second that!
