Airpods Disconnecting from Mac

My brand new airpods continuously disconnect from my mac. I have gone through the reset process several times. The airpods work for 1-2 days after I go through the process and then they disappear and I go through the process again. Then they work for 1-2 days and then they disappear. Rinse. Repeat.

I have run all available updates on the mac and the problem persists. The airpods are about 2 weeks old and have done this from the beginning. They have never worked for more than 2 days.
