Safari 13.1.1 not autofilling credit card details

For some reason the credit card autofilling function has stopped on my version of safari

The password function still works

When I go to the webpage in google chrome it recognises that it is a credit card and suggests details so its not the the websites are not correct.

Any ideas and maybe how to reset safari to see if that's an issue?

Brian - thanks for the quick reply.

I followed these steps:

  • Go to safari preferences > autofill > make sure credit card is checked - No resolution of issues
  • Go to system preferences > Apple ID > safari checked then toggled off and on - No resolution of issues
  • Tried the above 2 with quit and restarting Safari > no resolution
  • Restarted laptop > No resolution
  • I then tried to open up safari preferences > privacy and this brought about the spinning beach ball of death requiring a force quit of safari. When I reopened it I managed to get to safari preferences > privacy and I unchecked the "Allow websites to check the Apple Pay and Apple Card". This seemed to work (I might add that it doesn't mater if its checked or not but the credit cards are now auto filling again).

Very bizarre, unsure if it was the force quit or the clicking of the tab in privacy that got it to work again.

Thanks again. R

Have you gone into Safari Preferences > AutoFill tab? Make sure the Credit Cards box is checkmarked.

Otherwise, you can also try going into System Preferences > Apple ID, in the window to the right, Safari should be checkmarked also. If these are already on, you can turn them off and wait a moment before turning back on. That might allow it to repopulate the keychain and start autofilling again.
