My old MacBook (late 2008) just stuck at the 🚫 No Entry Sign 😟

I have tried to:

📌 Recovery Mode ➡️ 🚫

📌 Change Internal Hard Drive ➡️🚫

📌 SMC, PRAM Reset ➡️🚫

What's wrong and what should I do?

I'm really appreciate your help!

All those links provided above I have already read through! The key issue was I can't take the step of Recovery Mode, as well as I was unable to Boot USB installer (option key).

In fact, some mentioned about Keyboard Faulty might be an issue. Still, one of the user did mention install the came along OS version. Unfortunately, OS before El Capitan unable to download from the internet.

So, I made up my mind today to create an El Capitan USB installer, still, pull out the Shift Key (cap) of both sides and do a cleaning service!

Surprised! El Capitan was able to boot up by pressing Option Key. Once OS successfully installed, I checked the keys on the keyboard by using keyboard viewer. Boom, Shift Key having problem! (No wonder keep launching Mojave in Safe Mode)

After cleaned up the keys and proceeding for Mojave installation. Everything is perfectly fine! 😀🤩

There are a few (among the many) results that likely be adequate to resolve the matter

and answer your question in regard to this; among search results in duckduckgo, here:

• macOS "No Entry Sign" 🚫 at DuckDuckGo:

https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=macOS+%22No+Entry+Sign%22+%F0%9F%9A%AB&ia=web

As samples (not guaranteed to be better than any other) of search results:

• No entry sign on Mac start up - Apple Community

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/8396327

• Managing a prohibitory sign at OS X bootup - CNET

https://www.cnet.com/news/managing-a-prohibitory-sign-at-os-x-bootup/

Another one of those, on first page of results, suggests:

"Try reformatting the HDD and reinstall the OS. Note that if you use

Internet Recovery, it has to download the entire OS from Apple, so even

on a fast connection (mine's ~30Mbps Down) it can take 40+ minutes."

There are several with similar basics to try & follow. If your hardware

is undamaged, the results should eventually be satisfactory.

Good luck & happy trails!🌞🎣
