Lost contacts need to restore from iCloud

Hi, my iPhone 6 crashed a couple weeks ago so I went to a local simply Mac store to have them help me- the phone was stuck on the Apple icon so they restarted the phone for me and none of my contacts were restored. I had a backup saved the day before my phone crashed so I’m not sure why my contacts aren’t saved. I have a new phone now, Verizon tried to help me restore but again, nothing happened. Is there a way to get my contacts, calendar back??
