Yes, it stops charging when the battery reaches 100%. Additionally, there is no need to unplug the charging circuit when the battery reaches that 100%, simply use the MacBook on AC power when you are near an AC outlet.

There is battery icon on the top right side of menu bar if you check off System Preferences >Energy Saver > "Show battery status in menu bar".
