I just bought a magic keyboard cover for my iPad Pro and can’t seem to get the keyboard to light up or function, I can only use the onscreen keyboard.

If it doesn't work, it could be faulty. Should be this case, Apple Store's Specialists , after checking it out, will give you all the available option.
