will restoring my iphone delete all of its contents?
I want to get some videos off my old iphone 6 but cant remember the passcode. But I don't want to lose everything by doing a restore

You don't have a choice in the matter. To reset the passcode, you have to wipe the iPhone clean first. If you have a back up created before your iPhone was locked then you can restore from it. If you do not have a back up created then you will lose all data.

If you have a backup created then you can ➔ Restore Your iPhone from that backup file. If you do not have a backup file created then you will lose all your data on the iPhone.
If Photos, Messages and Contacts are synced to iCloud then you will be able to retrieve them after setting up iCloud on your iPhone after you reset the passcode and sign into iCloud.
