Web GL disabled?

I recently updated to a new MacBook Pro from a late 2011 MacBook Pro. I had assumed that WebGL was disabled because of the age of my computer, now on the new computer I find whatever the problem is has migrated with my User profile as WebGL is now working on the User profile I created on the old computer. It will work on the new computer in Firefox or Chrome, but not Safari. Aside from the option to enable WebGL 2.0 in the Develop menu which doesn't seem to make a difference, there doesn't seem to be any way to enable it.

Hi there, dbrint!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you have an issue with not being able to enable WebGL. Since the issue is specifically happening with a user account and doesn't happen in another account, I suggest checking out this article If Safari doesn't load a page or webpage items are missing.

Also, check out this article to Change Websites preferences in Safari on Mac:

"The WebGL setting appears only for computers on which WebGL may present a security risk. If the setting doesn’t appear, the site can show WebGL content."

If you continue to have an issue, I would recommend reaching out to Apple directly by checking out this link to Contact Apple Support and they will be more than happy to proceed with additional steps.

Have a terrific day!
