I want to transfer all my data from an old phone to a new phone which has been erased. It's not working!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

im tryiing to transfer all the data on one older phone to a newer phone. i erased the new phone. i restarted it. i got the hello screen. i pressed the home button. the old phone did not respond when the new phone was powered up.
