Apple report after macbook pro 15 crash

Hello,

I have a Macbook Pro 15 Mid-2014, and it has crashed a couple of times this week. I get this report but I am not very sure how to read it.

I would appreciate if someone could please let me know what it means, and if there is anything I could do to solve the problem.

Thank you very much in advance,

Jordi

Do you have an Samsung external drive attached that uses a solid state drive. Could be a phone, too, I suppose. If so, disconnect the drive, restart the computer and test for a while. If the problems go away, contact Samsung support.

IF you installed software that came with a Samsung device, that could be your problem.

If you do not have any Samsung hardware, the plot thickens. In that case, please post an EtreCheck (available free in the Mac App Store) report using these instructions to make it legible:

I agree with @Allan that the issue is with the portable Samsung USB drive. Make sure to update the proprietary Samsung software to the latest version. Or better yet uninstall the Samsung software and let macOS manage your external drive (will require you to copy the data from the drive and erase the drive with Disk Utility). It is hard to tell if the Samsung software is causing the issue (most likely) or if the USB drive/cable is failing.

Dear Allan,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Yes, I work with a Samsung external drive attached, and I have done so for years. Still, it is probably that in part. I say in part because I feel like it might be connected to the battery as well, but I didn't mention it hoping that someone with more knowledge than me, could read it in the previously attached report.

When my computer crashed, it happened at around 28% of battery, both times. I also saw a symbol that I had never seen before https://mac-optimization.bestreviews.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/35/mac-low-battery-screen-icon.png

Under the battery sign, up in the menu bar I see "Service Recommended", so I was afraid it would be related to the battery health. However, it hasn't crashed again since i posted my previous message.

I bought my Macbook pro 15 in 2015, and besides heating up quite a lot, and hearing the fans going wild, the computer seems to work fine (a bit slower than at the beginning maybe). I wonder if replacing the battery for a new one would solve all problems (crashing, heating up and excessive fan's use). But at the same time, not knowing if the problems are because the computer is just old, would mean that I would be wasting the money to replace the battery. And of course, buying a new one, would cost a lot of money, and now that it seems like mac computers will be changing a lot in the next 2 years with the ARM chips... makes me feel it's a bad time to buy.

Any ideas will help. Thank you very much.
