How can I get photos off my desktop?

Thank you for responding. The problem is that I was trying to export my pictures to My Passport, and instead they are all on my desktop, all 1500 or so of them. I really want to get them into something else without deleting them. I’ll try Finder, but I’m not sure if it will let me.
Sure, if you create a new folder on your desktop, and then drag the photos into the new folder, you can then drag that new folder with the photos onto your external drive.

If you open "Photos" you can click on the photo and drag into a folder in "Finder".
