Buying movies on Apple TV

Hi guys there is question for you.

If I buy a movie or TV Show and I would like to download it - would it be saved on my local storage on Apple TV?

Apple TV storage Where does the downloaded movies in apple TV get stored cloud? So why is 64GB required if we use very less apps for use. Am I missing something ?

Apple is Deleting Movies I tried to watch a movie I purchased, yes purchased, as In bought, through my Apple TV. “Content no longer available.” How do I save my purchases? Do I have to use an external drive hooked up to my computer and stream it from there through the Apple TV? (Clunky or what?). Will the HD be affected? Any thoughts on the size of external hard drive I will need for about 40 movies and a dozen tv series? Some which I couldn’t find elsewhere. I won’t be purchasing anymore through Apple.
