preview offset jpeg

Hi there,

Having an issue in OSX preview / quicklook- it's cropping and offsetting content within a jpeg file. The file opens correctly in photoshop, Google Chrome, on a PC etc. In the file below is a screenshot of the image as it should open (A) with a black border all the way around and as it opens in preview / quicklook (B) with the left hand border cropped, and moved to the right hand side of the image.

Running Catalina 10.15.5, preview 11.0 999.4. A friend with exactly the same software doesn't have the issue with the same files.

Any ideas?

Boot into Safe Mode (How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support) by booting with the Shift key held down and check there to see if the problem persists.  Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.

If this an issue— then why use Quicklook and/or Preview

You can reboot as a basic first step.

You can reapply the combo update for sorting one-off anomalies:

Combo update macOS 10.15.5 https://support.apple.com/kb/DL2040?locale=en_US

You can try an alternative image as a test or universal(?)

What happens if in house images— not PS or PC— as a comparison ?
