Ipad freezing on apps. Then this pic appears. What does this mean?
Ipad Mini 4 - was locked in landscape mode. I unlocked it and this solved the issue.
So this icon indeed means - put the device into Portrait mode. ( Words with Friends)

Never saw that. What app were you using when that message appeared?
Perhaps it's only saying that that app must be usd in portrait mode (not in landscape)
