How do I RESET the HARDWARE (NOT SOFTWARE)?
I am having Mouse issues ( & also trying various USB Mice) and a clean install of CATALINA does not solve them. So I suspect HARDWARE issues.
e.g., any mouse will not make Dock show using autohide.
Also, any mouse will not make Hot Corners work (after trying to reset Hot Corners)
Tried NVRAM resettingn& also SMC resetting.
BTW wht is the proper procedure for doing these on MAC Pro?

Remove AC power cord.
Press the power-on button for a quarter minute. This completely depletes the power capacitors, taking all Voltages inside to Zero except the PRAM backup battery.
restore AC power cord
wait a quarter minute.
Power on as usual.

That has always been to press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys its atsrtuj, and keep holding them until you hear the chime s=und a second and a third time, then release.
¿Does this model MacPro even chime any more? you may just have to hold them a really long time and watch it begin the start-up process again.
SMC reset is the Hardware reset.

MAC Pro 2019 does NOT have a chime (By default) but you can make it chime in Terminal:
sudo nvram StartupMute=%00
Hit return, & the next time you reboot , the startup sound/chime is back!

You are correct.
When you do a PRAM reset, PRAM/NVRAM setting does get cleared.
But since it might be weeks before I do another reset, it helps me a lot to hear the chime and know what is happening at boot time.
If someone knows how to make the chime return PERMANENTLY, I would be pleased to know.

That appears on the surface to be a good thing, but when you do a PRAM reset, doesn't that PRAM/NVRAM setting get cleared?
You want to hear the bong when the computer power up. Here it is sudo nvram "StartupMute=%00" type this in with out the terminal with out the quote.

The update to Big Sur should make the startup chime permanent.

That true but if you want permanent you have wait until Big Sur or 11.X is released.
