imac 2021 factory reset can't see apple mouse

My local apple store just returned my machines after doing a clean OS install and full diagnostics. Problem was system powered down (twice) and could not be restarted. Now I'm home with it, plugged it and booted up. But it won't recognize the mouse. Tried turning it on and off a few times but still doesn't acknowledge it, so can't get any further with start up. Any help greatly appreciated. andy

Check out this Support page for issues with your Magic Mac devices: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204621

Try the tips from the link first. If they don’t work, try using a wired mouse to navigate to Bluetooth settings or wireless mouse settings in System Preferences to see if the device is showing up there.
