Security updates for Catalina after Big Sur

I have a late 2012 21.5 inch iMac. Just read it won't get Big Sur. Will I be notified of security updates so I can keep it going for a while or do I have to search for them manually? It's my first Apple device that will no longer be capable of the latest OS.

Once Big Sur is released, you will receive two more years of Catalina security and browser updates via Software Update. Microsoft will bump the minimum operating system version to Mojave for installation of Office 365 and Office 2019 for Mac.
