Iphone 7 Plus charge port has become unreliable. Where to get this fixed?

I have an iPhone 7 Plus with 256GB that I bought new at the Apple Store. I have cleaned the port quite a few times but it is still unreliable for charging and audio. I have an excellent FIIO headphone amplifier but the lightning connector is not good for audio and since there is no headphone jack anymore .. I feel like I have no choice but to get this repaired.

Does anyone know what it will cost to have the charge port assembly changed? The Apple store folks say that other than a cleaning they do not do this type of simple repair. (they say they swap out the phone in this case but that would be horrendously expensive and bad for the planet). Everything else works great!

Oh give me a break, find something more important to obsess over. It is far more cost efficient for Apple to provide you with a service replacement phone and then, after inspecting your iPhone, either sending it to a repair depot where they refurbish phones to use whatever parts they can (the rest are recycled) or sent it to the robot to be recycled as I already told you. Apple has done service this way since the iPhone 3G was released. This avoids you waiting 14 or so days for your iPhone to be returned to you. And no, they didn't REFUSE to fix it, you said they offered you a service replacement unit.

Yes, if you have a 3rd party replace the port and cable Apple at their discretion may refuse to do an out-of-warranty replacement in the future of your iPhone. But why would you care? You've already said you don't want to pay that much money. So go the 3rd party route and give a reputable shop some business and worry about something important. Or do it yourself since you say you can buy the charging port and cable assembly for $20. Save some money.

They aren't stopping anyone else from fixing it. They don't provide parts to 3rd party shops that are not Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASP) but as you said the parts you need are easily found and perform just as well as the cable and connector from Apple. So go find your shop and get it done.

I don't follow the logic that they will take back my phone and use its good parts to refurbish other phones, but they can't take a cable assembly (that I can buy for about $20) to "refurbish" my phone for a fair price. Now you are suggesting if someone else actually repairs my phone - that Apple will refuse to fix it?? They just did REFUSE to fix it already.

If Apple won't fix it then they should not stop others from doing so.

They are correct, they replace. your iPhone with a service replacement unit. They then use any usable parts from yours and refurbish it as another service replacement. If they determined it is too bad for reuse it goes to the robot Daisy and is completely recycled. Good for the planet.

I wouldn't call it horrendously expensive but give how many generations old that phone is I would not do the out of warranty replacement. You have another option, you can find. an reputable 3rd party repair site and have them examine your iPhone and give you an estimate to replace just the connector/cable. If you go this route Apple may refuse to do any future service on your iPhone in the future.
