Using highlighter in Notes for iPad Pro

How do I use the highlighter in Notes in iPad Pro? When I select text, the Highlighter disappears. When I bring up the pencils and tools below, the text un-highlights.

Highlighting search term in Notes When I do a search in Notes on my iPad, on the note page that my search brings me to, sometimes the search term is highlighted, sometimes not. And sometimes there are 5 icons at the top right of the note page, and sometimes 3 icons. Is there a way to set up Notes so that when I enter a search term, and then click on the suggested Notes page, that the search term I entered is highlighted? And why the difference in the number of icons?

Can’t highlight to copy and paste on iPad Notes Since an update in the past few months, I either cannot highlight at all, or it highlights above or below where I touch. This makes Notes pretty useless to me. APPLE PLEASE FIX THIS!! Has anyone figured out a work-around??

What is your iPad’s exact model number and what version of the system software is it running?

It is an iPad Pro, running iPadOS 13.5.1. I hope that’s what you mean! Thank you!
