AirPod not connecting.

I got a new pair of AirPods on Sunday. They worked fine Sunday night and when I used them on Monday. Today the right one started doing a weird annoying static noise in my ear. It wouldn’t play anything. Later it started working but would do the static thing occasionally. I just used the right one for a long phone conversation.. no problems. Then I just tried using the left one as I charge the right one and it won’t turn on. It’s 97% charged. I’ve forgotten the AirPods and reconnected. Turned off my Bluetooth from the settings for over 1 minute and turned it back on. I’ve disconnected and reconnected the iPods. I’ve restarted my phone. I’ve don’t everything aside from smashing this AirPod with a hammer. Someone please help. I’ve held down the button On the left one and gotten the sound of when you put it in your ear.. but then it won’t play. And I put the right iPod in and the left one stops working completely.
