Multiple monitors using eGPU

Hi,

I would like to use 7 monitors (1 x 4K monitor with following connections: DP x 1, Mini DPx 1, HDMI with HDCP (Ver. 1.4) x 2 & 6 x 2k monitors (2560x1440) with following connections: 2 HDMI (MHL) connector, 1 Mini DisplayPort, 1 DisplayPort (version 1.2), 1 DisplayPort out (MST)) on newest Mac Mini. I don't have big graphic requirements (mainly used for system monitoring (via browsers)). I suspect I would need to use minimum 1 eGPU but I never done something like this before as I'm new to Apple. I also can't find much documentation on support websites. What solution would you recommend?

Thanks,

Pawel

Correct. The Intel UHD 630 can only manage 3x display channels. For more channels at least one eGPU is required. I don't think Apple supports MST chaining so that option is probably out.

The simplest solution if you are just driving a video wall and don't need performance is the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Puck. Only flaw: it seems to be out of stock. https://www.apple.com/shop/product/HMT22ZM/A/sonnet-egfx-breakaway-puck-radeon-rx-560-external-gpu

My next suggestion for an enclosure would be either a Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box (budget), a Razor Core X (powerful but big and heavy), or a Akitio Node Titan (well refined but a little more expensive).

As for cards look for either an RX 570 (budget pick with 4x displayport/HDMI connections) or an RX 5500XT (newer Navi technology).

Lastly here is Apple's support documentation: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208544

Hi, Pawel, glad to help you......

****, man, that's a LOT of monitors.... I've never used an eGPU before, but it's my understanding that you can daisy-chain them together and do it that way and....... Sonnet also makes an Echo Express III-D (thunderbolt 3 edition) which can handle 3 full length graphics cards. They also have a rack mount version.

that's all I have for now.
