iPhone SE 2020 randomly shuts off
My iPhone SE 2020 recently randomly shuts off for two times. My OS is updated and there is no physical damage. I wander if anyone has the same problem and what could be the reason.

I am getting the same issue . When battery is below 50%, it goes black giving no feedbacks. When I press and hold start button the logo comes and It shut down. If I try to start, it will show plug to power display. When I connect charger it starts again and battery is as same as before . I’m like WTH now
Massage your phone screen. Like deep tissue massage and it comes on eventually. Basically the phones battery is not sitting snug where it needs to be and disconnecting. Loose connection. Not sure if Apple will cover this. Came here to find out. If battery gets bumped out at all it shuts off. Seems like a manufacturing defect.
IOS 14.7.1 doesn't fix the issue. Apple support confirms the problem and proposes just wait for the IOS update which should fix this bug (they can't tell the exact version). I'm really disappointed in Apple, it's almost a year since I bought this smartphone, and I still can't use it.
I now am experiencing the popping sounds and some random shutdowns now and again. Also, I've found that the battery life is absurdly bad even taking into account that it's worn down to 91% from April 2020 to now: I only get halfway through a day if I take it off the charger 6-8 AM. It's ridiculous and far beyond what can be expected from a phone this new.
Like anything like watching video or streaming audio just kills it in no time.
I'm done with the 2020 SE and getting a 11 or 12. No way a new iOS will fix these things.
The battery is too small for the A13 or the overall hardware is just faulty. I don't know.
The 2016 SE was great. This one is a dud.
I’m also facing the same issue, even had word with Apple support. They said battery drainage issue is bcz of usage and it’s needs to be replaced. Also they will compensate even though phone is under warranty. Really disappointed.
This was my experience too. I ended up paying an Apple Certified repair shop $40 because they took it in under warranty but found no issues.
The problem is though that they don't care what you tell them. They just run these standardised tests and check off a lists -If your issue is something that doesn't show under these tests then they don't care and just tell you that it's working perfectly.
I specifically asked to test it with both fast and regular charging. But that's not a part of their test so they refuse to do it.
Unfortunately, we bought three of these phones, and they are complete garbage! One phone randomly shuts off even though battery is at 100%. It did this for 2 days. I kept it plugged in charging, so it stayed at 100%, now today it died completely and battery shows 0% and I can't get it back on no matter what I try! Seriously thinking about going back to Samsung phones!!
Bought my iPhone SE last year and same issue with the random powering off about 4 weeks ago. Mine would last about 2-3 days. Each day I would go over to my phone and grab it and try powering it on until it would finally power up.
The first time it happened, phone was around 80% charged and I had taken a picture and slid the phone back into my pocket. A few minutes later I pulled my phone back out to see what time it was, and found the Black Screen. Tried soft and hard forced restarts with no luck. I placed it on my desk and for the next few days I would grab it and try powering it on until one day, it turned on. It showed my phone at 37%. Very strange since the phone was off.
Figured it was just a fluke and reloaded from my back up.
A week later, it did it again. This time i was at work and my son asked me how my iPhone was running in an iMessage. Told him I had no issues. Slipped the phone back into my pocket and went to eat lunch. Pulled the phone out to check the news while I ate and again, the Black Screen. Ugh! I've been using my old iPhone 6S as a back up so I just pulled my Sim Card and was able to keep functioning. Came home and placed it on my desk. Contacted Apple Support and opened up a ticket. The phone was still under warranty so they sent me a box to ship it back to them. I sent them a complete description of activities when it shut down both times. A few days later I got it to power up just as the box arrived. I reset the phone and shipped it to them.
As with others on here, Apple couldn't find anything wrong as all their tests gave them a green light. When it came back there was instructions to try and manually load everything back into the phone. Which I did.
Friday night, 2 days ago, I had the phone in my pocket and when I pulled it out to see what time it was, again the Black Screen. It last a week. I just tried a Forced Restart even though it's only been a day and a half, and I was able to get it to power on. It's showing only 47% battery. Looking at the battery levels and use, it shows the battery hasn't been used in the day and a half it was off, but shows it now being at 47%.
My phone is charged on a wireless charger and I had this phone for over 6 months without any issues until this past month.
UPDATE--->: After posting to this thread I checked the community posts, and there's a "zillion" posts about the SE, both old and new versions, loosing power. What really gets me upset is through all those postings, every now and then an Apple moderator will post to take the phone to an Apple Store to have it checked. Yet, everyone's phones test ok.
*In talking with my sons, both of who have been loyal Apple users for years, I was told that my SE is no doubt experiencing the same problem Apple had with their 1st Gen iPhones. The 1st Gen SE were too thin and the phones would bend when in someone's pocket. This problem was really severe as it resulted in cracked screens. The 1st Gen would bend when placed in a pants pocket which would not only ended up sometimes cracking screens, but in many instances, the bend was break the electrical connection to the battery, or some other component, resulting in the power loss. This made sense since my wife's SE 2nd Gen iPhone is in one of those crash proof heavy duty Otter Cases and mine is in one of Otter's hard vinyl cases. It also made sense since every time I lost power on my iPhone, it was when I pulled the phone form my pocket.
*Originally I thought the phone wouldn't power back on until it lost battery power. In reality, it appears I wasn't doing the hard restart properly. The hard restart process is pretty tricky and may take a few times to get the sequence correct. Plus you need to have patience when holding the start button in for 30 seconds.
*I've always placed my iPhone into my pocket with the screen facing against my leg. I started doing that so I wouldn't accidentally start dialing someone on the phone, and have kept doing this for around 10 years now. I've also always used an Otter Box hard vinyl case so I could slide my phone out of my pocket easily while at work. So I could buy a stronger more rigid case, trade in my SE for a newer more sturdy model, or option #3 was to see if I flipped my phone so now the glass was always facing away from my leg.
*I picked Option #3 for now and it's been 7 days that I've still had use of my SE 2nd Gen iPhone. Of course sliding my phone into my pocket with the glass facing out can pose issues. So I turned off the "phone wake" when raising the phone. I then went to my home button option and changed that so it's almost a double tap to use that. Now when I slide my phone out of my pocket, I have to push the power or home button to wake it up. So far, so good.
UPDATE (2)-----> Well it's been 14+ days and I haven't had any more issues with my SE 2nd Gen iPhone since turning the phone so it's back is against my leg. I've purposely left my iPhone in my pocket while working outside and during other activities where I'm bumping my thigh where my phone is, and have had no issues.
It's been a learning curve sliding in my phone into my pocket with the screen facing up, but it's a habit from years of doing the opposite. Sometimes I'll get anxious when I lift my phone and the screen doesn't come on and then I remember that I've turned off my "raise to wake" option. So far, so good.
What the ****. Good until yesterday and then all of a sudden - drops mid call.
Shuts off while trying to conduct business.
OS is up to date. Even went and recovered to last save on my personal MACPro and it still craps the bed when its needed.
No bueno.
UPDATE (3)-----> Still no issues since placing my iPhone SE 2nd-Gen in my pocket with the faceplate facing out. As previously stated, I also have the "raise to wake" option turned off as well as the home button set to heavy.
Yeah I have kinda the same problem with my IPhone SE 2020 like when I was watching YouTube it just powered off and had a loading screen on it and turned on after 5 mins. Also my other complaint is that when it dies, it doesn’t turn on at 1% it turns on at 3%. Why is that?
Even I am facing the same issue. My iPhone se 2020 is switching off at 20% battery. And the support are just saying it’s an application problem. If this an application problem then why so many people are facing the same problem.
I also am having this issue, it has recently starting turning off at 30+ percent and will not turn back on until placed on a charger. I have gone to bed with the battery at 60% and it has died in the night.
Doubly annoying is the input charging port is damaged due to poor quality materials and Apple is unable to fix it due to the port being attached to the mother board of the phone itself.
So my only option is magnetic charging, not convenient for when I am not at home. I often am finding myself with a dead phone halfway through my day. And it's just over a year old.
I am having the same issue 60% battery, was in the middle of a Whatsapp call and the phone just shut down. Switched it back on, called again and it happened again. Did anyone find a solution for this or know what might be please?
