Prohibit changing mobile data settings on child's device

Screen Time has an option to prohibit changes of the mobile data settings on the child's device. However it doesn't seem to work, or I misunderstand the idea.

Under Content & Privacy Restrictions I have Mobile Data Changes set to Don't Allow. However on my son's iPhone SE I still see that he can switch it off, enable connection sharing etc. If it's meant to be like that then what Mobile Data Changes parameter is intended for?

Hi Vaditch,

Thanks for posting your question about Screen Time. It sounds like you have a concern about changes being made to mobile data.

Setting "Mobile Data Changes" to Don't Allow should prevent changes to app-level mobile data settings. With it set to Don't Allow, tap Settings > Mobile, and scroll down. You should see that the mobile data settings for individuals apps are grayed out. However, the ability to toggle mobile data on and off in general should still be available: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Take care.

Thanks Jeremy, that's what I expected to find out.

Is there any solution to prohibit mobile data sharing? On our home router I have OpenDNS used to filter out unwanted content, but mobile data connection is completely unprotected, and the operator doesn't offer any solutions. So my son can use mobile hotspot on his iPhone to connect from his Windows laptop, working around all content restrictions.
