iPad locked - forgotten passcode

Hi

can someone help please?

i’ve just given my son my old iPad but he’s managed to lock it already by forgetting the passcode.

I’ve read that I need to press the power button and volume button together however the power button on the iPad doesn’t work (hasn’t for ages) so we can’t use that option.

any other ideas please??

If the physical button are not operating correctly, then you’ve hit the buffers.


Unless the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons are working correctly (or the Sleep/Wake and both Volume buttons for devices that lack a Home button), it will not be possible to recover a disabled iPad.


Your only options are to seek repair via Apple, or an Apple Authorised Repair Agent.


Whilst some Apple Stores are reopening, your best way forward will be to seek assistance directly from Apple Support. The link to Contact Support can be found at top-right of this page.


I’m sorry that it won’t be possible to provide a viable self-help solution to this problem.

If you forgot your pass code, you will need to erase your device


Follow the steps in this article:

If you forgot the passcode on your iPhone, or your iPhone is disabled - Apple Support


If your still unable I would advice you to:

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support


If you have a backup you can restore it from that

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support
