Login screen distorted black screen

Hello, my sisters MacBook Pro starts up with a distorted black screen it flickers almost through the whole screen but there’s a small part where the screen can be seen. That small portion is the only area where the mouse can be moved or seen also. Wondering why this is happening?

Please mention the MacBook Pro model/year this will be helpful.


Please try to Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support to see if the issue resolves.

Next you can try reset SMC please see How to reset the SMC of your Mac - Apple Support.


If above both steps didn't solve your issue then it could be a Hardware issue so run Apple Diagnostics Test :

If none of the above helps please Contact Apple Support.
