Apple TV 4th Gen (not 4k version) blinking light, no video and continually unable to restore to factory settings

Hi,

My 4th gen apple tv was given to me from a friend, and since plugging it in there is no video. The white light blinks fast all the time, and when plugging it into my computer to restore to factory settings, my computer only recognises it when I hold down menu + play/pause for 5 seconds. The new software is downloaded fine, but then itunes has said there is an error (3005 and 4005 so far). My macbook air is from 2018 and has catalina on it and everything is up to date. Firewall has been disabled. Not sure how to fix.

Appreciate anyone's help!

Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes cannot contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.

Error 4005 is another unknown error related to restoring.
