iOS 13.5.1 Overflowing Storage

Ever since upgrading to iOS 13.5.1 on my iPhone 6S I've experienced an issue where the iPhone Storage is constantly growing in size. I'm currently at 15.77 GB of storage in the "Other" category and have been deleting Apps, Photos, Videos, and Music to try and wittle this down to no avail. Every time I create room by deleting content, the "Other" category grows to fill the void.

I've checked my Files App to see what's "On My iPhone" and come up with somewhere around 100 MB of data.

There is most definitely a problem with this update causing SOMETHING to fill storage space on the phone. The quantity of repeatedly bungled Software Updates is really starting to annoy me.

If a forced restart doesn't clear up some 'other' data

Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

Unfortunately the only other way I've found that works is to backup your phone, reset to factory settings (erases your device), and restore from that backup

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings - Apple Support

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup - Apple Support

Hi there, DeputyDawgK12,

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. It looks like you're trying to make space on your iPhone but when deleting files, the Other segment of your storage keeps growing. We're happy to help!

You can get some information on the Other data category from the Apple Support article How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support, which reviews what Other is comprised of and how it handles the storage on your device. In addition, the article will help you pinpoint what specific apps are using the most data.

If you find the Other data isn't reducing on its own, try restarting your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support and check for updates: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support.

Cheers!

Sorry maybe replying to you makes more sense.

I am having the same issue on my iPhone 7 plus. The whole storage is 32GB and other storage is taking 21GB and still increasing. The other storage increased from 13GB to 21GB in less than 2 weeks.

It should be something related to the new IOS 13.5.1, perhaps a bug. Engineers from Apple should work on to fix the issue since so many people are facing it and it is really annoying (unless Apple is trying to use this method to force people to upgrade).

Also, I would suggest you add more details to the other storage like what kind of cache, voice files or message files are there and let the user be able to select and delete part of them just like a lot of other apps. I really like the functionality in WeChat for this, you can delete cache and select which wechat friend's history chats to be deleted, which is clear and super helpful.

Right now the other storage is totally blind to users, while it is taking huge space. Even in your official guidance for how to reduce the other storage, it is not easy for users to operate because we need to look at different apps and go into different settings.

This bug is trash. I keep seeing Moderators on reddit and Apple Support Forums deleting them. Like ID10T errors. It's a real bug. I have had to reset my phone 3 times on iOS13 and I have had an iOS device since iOS 6. Its attempting to cache like NFS caching. It's just implemented poorly. Surprised this got out of their CICD pipeline. Might need to tweek your Regression testing for longer periods. Takes about 2 weeks to notice. Very irritating bug.

you are barking up the wrong tree. I am not Apple. I am just another iPhone user like yourself.. Only I'm here on a public forum donating my time trying to help people like you who are asking for help.

Not to debunk your conspiracy theory about Apple, but I have seen posts from others using brand new devices with the same issue. What would they upgrade to?
