Checking "Disable Audio Components on AV Clips" does not disable the AV audio

I am fairly new to Final Cut Pro X. I have been attempting to sync audio recorded at the same time as filming, but from a DAW instead of my camera. Using the Synchronize Clips option technically works, but when I check the box to "Disable Audio Components on AV Clips" I can very clearly hear that the camera's audio was not disabled. I see no way, once synchronized, to separate the camera's audio and the higher quality audio from my DAW.

I feel like this is a bug because I can't find any other mention of this issue on the internet. I have tried checking the box and not checking the box and I get the exact same result every single time. The audio clips were simply combined when I am trying to replace my camera's audio with my higher quality audio.

I'm using Final Cut Pro version 10.4.8 on Catalina 10.15.4

Select the lower Dialog-1, not the container at the top. Click on the 2. Or go inside the sync clip and use the expand clip components function.

Ok I fixed it! I initially bounced the audio out of my daw at 48 kHz 24 bit. I tried 44.1 kHz 16 bit and now it works. Thank you for your time. I must say, I am surprised 48 kHz is not the sample rate of the video project, but as long as it works, that's all i care about. Thank you for your time!

Did you look in Audio Configurations for the sync clip? Could you post a screenshot of what you see?

Storyline is switched off. That’s the audio recorded by the camera. Select the lower Dialog-1 not the whole container and se of you can expand the two. It looks like there are two channels. You might have to go inside the sync clip and see what’s happening to the audio configuration there.

Ok this new image reveals the problem. Final Cut is only showing this chunk in the middle to be camera audio. If I play the clip during this part, the audio sounds fine. The question is why is Final Cut combining the audio in the other parts of the clip and how can this be fixed?

I greatly appreciate all your time. I cannot click on the 2 but I can visibly see stereo audio. I have seemingly no way of separating these channels. I've tried clicking and right clicking on everything.
