Update Apple ID Settings Not Working

I am currently running the newest version of IOS and my phone keeps asking me to update Apple ID settings. I type in my password and it says updating Apple ID settings but it never finishes and loads for hours. I let it load overnight and it never finished. I have tried turning off my phone and signing out and neither have worked. I keep getting spammed with the notification but I can’t do anything about it.

iPhone SE, iOS 13

UPDATE - a MacBook Pro also on my Apple ID needed an update to its Apple ID Settings.

I ran the update on the MacBook and was able to update the settings on my iPhone X, which has worked flawlessly up until now.

SO - if you can't update your Apple ID Settings, make sure there is not another device that also needs to be updated.

Unfortunately, I still can't set up FaceID. Wasn't working, so I reset FaceID (while the update to ID Settings was still needed), and when I get to the "Position your face within the frame" screen, other than staring at myself, nothing happens.

I'll update that issue on Thursday when I get a call back from Support.

This may be your problem, an updating Apple ID settings problem. Apple is aware of the problem.

Note that some have solved the problem by signing out of iCloud, restarting their devices, and signing back in

I suggest you use my search link (update apple id settings) in trying to solve your problem. You will see a number of links that are related to it. But, note that I have not seen a definitive solution for it.

No solution. BUT - apparently it's now a common problem (I'm currently talking to support supervisor named Toby) that Apple is aware of and "working on" a solution. I am getting kicked up to engineering.

Can't use FaceID, can't turn on Keychain, when I sign out and sign back in, it spins "signing into iCloud" just like it does when it's "Updating Apple ID Settings..."

Toby is going to call me back on Thursday.

Sounds like there is no solution and I am unable to use Face ID in the interim.

Great. I'll try to repost once I know more.

Right - I looked at most recent google search and your links.

No real solution - just advanced versions of power down and up, sign out and back in. I took the drastic move of wiping my phone and restoring from backup. No dice.

Would probably work if I started phone as new but I’d like to know what is the root cause of the error.

None of that is working. I’ll provide an update as to what I learn on Thursday.
