Camera flip not working on FaceTime

I see there was a thread on this subject but nothing further added for over a year. Last post said Apple were working to resolve. Had anyone any news or advice?

My camera still does not flip correctly. It either:

Freezes my image; the other person can see what I am showing them but I can’t see what I’m trying to show them

OR (most often) using the back camera causes FaceTime to crash out and close.

I am using an Apple iPad Air MD785ZP/A with the latest software update.
