My laptop will not restart

My laptop ran out of battery. Once I recharged the battery it won’t restart even with 96% charge. The message I get is: An error occurred while loading the installer resources. Quit the installer to restart your computer and try again. I’ve tried 7 times!

Crossed out circle at boot up. Recovery not work. Help! Hey! 1st received the dreaded crossed out circle icon this morning. Proceeded to shut down but wouldn’t immediately reboot. 8 hrs later, I try again & there are signs of life but the crossed out circle reappears. Command plus R resulted in error msg -2003F. I don’t see this error message listed in FAQs. What does it mea? Is my laptop gone for good?

Multiple Issues with MacBook Air (Intel Chip) Over the last week and a half, the load times for different apps on my MacBook Air have increased exponentially. Not only this but my laptop has started restarting at random times. I have tried to update the software (currently 11.5.1), but I get the following error: "Update failed. An error has occurred while installing the selected updates.". It is also worth mentioning that chrome which I used as my primary browser also stopped working today. I unistalled it but upon trying to reinstall it an error occurs as well. I have more than enough storage, this is not an issue. I don't know if this is necessarily related but I remember a couple of months ago when I installed Big Sur, the laptops battery seemed to run out much more quickly than what I was used to. Currently unsure as to wether it is back to its normal battery life or I have just become accustomed to it being shorter. What is wrong with my laptop and how can I fix it?

When you restart, hold down the Shift key until you see the Apple logo.

If that works, reboot without Shift and see if it still works.
