Cellular Data

I have an iPhone XS Max. When I'm traveling, iMessage and Google Maps don't work with cellular data, even though both are turned on in the cellular data list. They only work with wiFi

Does cellular data work for any of your other apps? If not, then cellular data (& voice) are services provided by your cellular provider. I suggest that you contact them for further assistance with this issue. You may not be signed up for a cellular data plan that supports international voice/data.

To use data when traveling, yes roaming must be turned on. Note that unless you have a Roaming or travel plan with your carrier, data roaming can be very expensive.

Try turn on roaming from cellular in settings
