Iphone tells me backup failed, but I do not want to back up

Hi, I turned off the iCloud back up option, still every day a couple of times my phone tells me that the back up failed and that I should purchase more space on iCloud. Quite annoying. How can I fix this?

My iPhone continues to report that it can be back-up on iCloud even though I have upgraded my iCloud plan I've upgraded iCloud to 50GB and the back-up utility reports that it currently needs only 1.5GB to make a back-up. I can run backups manually but the notification on the settings icon still tries to get me to purchase more space! I don't understand why it continues to say "Your iPhone can't be backed-up" when I can easily run the backups manually and I seem to have more than enough storage space available.

Welcome to the Apple Community.

Are you sure you turned backup off and not iCloud photos or vice versa.

Settings ➔ Apple ID(Top) ➔Your Device ➔ iCloud Backup
