Wireless Keyboard Loses Connection and Repeatedly Sends the same Key

My Apple wireless (alum) keyboard (model A1255, 2007) has the nasty habit of getting stuck on a key and repeating it endlessly. This wreaks havoc on anything I'm doing, esp. when it's gets stuck on the Backspace key and deletes everything I'm typing!

I usually hit the ON/OFF button on the keyboard until it Disconnects and then Reconnects. This happens regardless of the battery state. It's started happening more recently, so I'm wondering if there's been changes to the Bluetooth stack in the OS? (I'm running Catalina 10.15.4, on a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2016, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports))

It's also likely interference. Is there anyway for me to diagnose this at the software level? All the advice is very practical, but it's also hand wavy too... Wireless is hard to debug and it's unfortunately there's not better diagnose tools in the OS to help figure out what's going on!
