Solution to an iPhone battery problem
Several months ago, I posted a question about the iPhone battery draining too quickly. After numerous trials and errors, I finally found a solution to the problem, so I wanted to post the solution to the earlier thread. But, for some reason, none of my earlist posts over the last decade are showing up under “My Subscriptions,” so I cannot add it to the earlier thread. I'm posting the solution here, for the posterity, in case other people might be having the same problem (that is, if my post will remain in the system).
The original problem that I was having was that the brand new iPhone battery, when fully charged, drained very quickly, usually in about 24 hours, when I was not using the phone at all and none of the apps were running. I still don't know what the cause is, but I found a reliable solution. I've conducted enough controlled experiments to know that the solution works reliably; I just don't know why it works.
If, after charging the battery fully, I restart the iOS after I unplug the charger, the battery lasts for one full week. If, on the other hand, I either: 1) don't restart the iOS; or 2) restart it before I unplug the charger (even by a few seconds), then the battery drains in 24 hours. As long as I remember to restart the iOS after I unplug the charger, the battery lasts for a week.
I don't know why this solution works, but the fact that restarting the iOS solves the problem seems to confirm my initial suspicion that the problem stems from the new iOS (because the problem started happening after the last major iOS upgrade). Hopefully, the problem will be solved with the next major iOS upgrade.
If there are others who are having a similar problem with their iPhone battery draining too quickly, I suggest that you try my solution.
