My Airplay Display won't Turn ON

I've been trying to mirror my iPad with my MacBook and I've followed the firewall instructions and have them connected to the same wi-fi but it doesn't work.

I don't have Airplay on my menu bar and when I try to turn it on on System Preferences it is stuck on Off.

Can someone help me solve this issue?

Hello Timeless_Mind,

Thanks for reaching out on the Apple Support Communities. From your message it sounds like you've been trying to have your iPad screen mirror to your MacBook Pro.

With AirPlay you can stream and mirror from your device to an Apple TV or AirPlay 2-compatible smart TV.

You're unable to use AirPlay to mirror your iPad to your MacBook Pro. If your iPad and your MacBook Pro meet the system requirements you may be able to use Sidecar to do so. Here are the system requirements:

"Sidecar system requirements

Sidecar requires a compatible Mac using macOS Catalina and a compatible iPad using iPadOS 13:

Mac using macOS Catalina

  • MacBook Pro introduced in 2016 or later
  • MacBook introduced in 2016 or later
  • MacBook Air introduced in 2018 or later
  • iMac introduced in 2017 or later, plus iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)
  • iMac Pro
  • Mac mini introduced in 2018 or later
  • Mac Pro introduced in 2019

iPad using iPadOS 13

If they meet the requirements follow the steps in this article: Use your iPad as a second display for your Mac with Sidecar.

All the best.
