Is there a way to scan a large Google Drive PDF file for viruses *before* downloading?

I've sent people a link to a PDF on Google Drive that's too large to scan, meaning that Google Drive has posted a warning that it can't scan the file I'm asking them to download, so the only way to get the file is to click the "Download anyway" button.

I've found a solution for Windows users (VirusTotal), and Apple recommends MalwareBytes for scanning and removing viruses on a Macbook (there's also a version for WIndows). But I can't find any reliable information about scanning Google Drive files before downloading to a Mac laptop or tablet device.

Bearing in mind that some "anti-virus apps" are less than reliable, does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!
