I bought a headphone adapter and when I try to use it on an IPhone SE 2nd Generation and IPhone XR it works for music but on calls I can’t hear anything through the headphones.
The calls still come through the earpiece of the IPhone.
Can someone please help me fix this problem. The whole reason I got the adapter was to be able to use a headset while making calls for work.

To start, did you purchase your adapter from Apple or a third-party? Are you using Apple EarPods or another type of headphones?

I have the same problem. I'm using iPhone 11 Pro iOS 13.6.
I bought Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter (Model A 1749, MMX62ZM/A). The calls are not going through the adapter+headphones. I replaced the adapter with new one (the same model) and the problem still exists.
The adapter is detected by iPhone as Dock Speaker. Producer: "I want it", IPDLI13, iAP Interface, 1.0.0. This does not seem right.
Please help.
