no Backup location shown in Final Cut Pro X library Properties.

Hi,

I am trying to restore a project file from FCP x Backups and there is not a back up location show in the the Library properties. Flip. How can that be? I am looking for any suggestions. Please help. I am a seasoned editor and I have never seen this before.

How to access a FCP backup I was editing today and suddenly got an error my drive was full. The entire project disappeared off FCP screen. I thought my file was on my larger drive but somehow I missed the default location. I manually moved the FCP project file from my computer to the external drive but it will not open. When I try and access the back up The "access backup menu choice" won't highlight when I open FCP. How do I access my backups? What is the proper way to move a FCP file from one drive to another when FCP closes everything because of no space? Seems you would build a little redundancy into FCP so it could give me a little warning? Seems crazy I would get the error when it's too late to recover my work. Thanks for any help recovering a ton of work.

Is it necessary to keep the auto-generated folders called, "Final Cut Backups"? I always make two to three manual backups of my Final Cut project files, but I notice that there is an auto-generated folder called, "Final Cut Backups" and am wondering whether it would be okay to delete that. If I ever were to attempt to go back into a past project to re-edit it, would the drag-and-drop copies I made allow me to do so? What, if anything, do I sacrifice by deleting the auto-generated backups folders? Thank you!

How to Unhide Library folder from a TM Backup? Hi, I just found this thread from a few years back while desperately trying to solve an issue here... Glenn posted this great reply, but I'm having an issue executing. "If you want to unhide and view the user library in the Finder view of a particular TM backup: Navigate to the backup on the TM disk you wish to view. Select your Home Folder in the user folder of that backup. Right click on your account name (control Click) and then hold down the Option Key. Select copy "***" as Pathname. Then, go the the Finder, select Go from the menu, then Go To Folder and paste the copied pathname to the window. Add /Library to the end of the pathname in the window, then hit Go. A Finder window show open that backup user Library folder. The issue I have is right at, "Right click on your account name (control Click) and then hold down the Option Key. Select copy "***" as Pathname." I don't see that option. I believe the issue may be in the preceding step, "Select your Home Folder in the user folder of that backup." I only see my user folder, not a 'Home' folder within it. Has the configuration of TM backups changed since this last post, or is there something else I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Unless you assigned a specific location for Backups, the default location is in your Macintosh HD Home Movies folder.

Can you post a screenshot of what you see in properties? Sounds like there was an assigned location but it’s no longer available

Thank you. this solved my problem. I am using one drive for raw media, another drive to render and a third drive for exports, and I searched Final Cut Backups and the cache in Movies did not show up. I have had a 60 hour week and I can't put two and two together right now.
