I have a late 2009 imac
It was still running great until last week and it is now freezing I doesnt even start anymore
See photo below of fuzzy screen.
Would appreciate if someone had the same issue and know how to fix it

If it still had the original HD in it, my guess is it has failed. After 12 years it's had a good run and the computer should be replaced. However before throwing in the towel, try resetting the NVRAM and restarting in Safe Mode.

Those screen artifacts suggest a failing graphics processor.
However, try a Safe Mode boot so see if anything changes:
I suspect the GPU has failed. If you can find parts for it you can fix it. However I have to question does make sense to spend any money on a computer that has zero value. However that is your decision to make, I'm just saying if it were mine, I'd spend the money towards it's replacement.

I know it is getting old but I dont use it that much and it has been very good until recently.
I changed to a SSD drive a few years ago.
And maximized the ram as well at the same time.
Did the nvram and nothing.
I'll try the safe mode now
