Catalina recover from snapshot error

When I use recovery mode and recover from a snapshot, I get the message, "An error occurred while rolling back the local snapshot. The system may be in an inconsistent state." This happens every time. I can't even restart the Mac at this point. (2017 iMac Pro running Catalina 10.15.5 I have to force power down, and then it returns to recovery mode and then I can restart.

The snapshot does seem to restore, but makes me wonder if all is correct after receiving the error. I can do a full Time Machine restore just fine. It's just restoring from local snapshots that give this error. Are there any thoughts about how to fix this? I love to restore from local snapshots to try out software, etc. It's almost instant to do so, but this started a couple of months ago. I'm attaching a screenshot to show the error I receive.

I would also like to know how this turned out and or whether anyone thinks I should also re-install macOS as I think I'm experiencing similar problems. I installed some free logic plugins and I was getting a license error and something about ilok (even though I dont have ilok...) I freaked out and tried to do a recovery mode time machine. I selected a snapshot that was 2 days old and it gave me the same error message. However when I hard reset it appeared that it worked because when I started up Google Chrome my tabs loaded from days ago...

I'm hesitant to re-install macOS at this time cause I've got lots of programs and patches installed (Logic, Final Cut, etc) but am worried about the safety and stability of my mac... For what its worth, I ran a malware scan on clean my mac and nothing popped up.
