Can't delete photos from iPhone 5s

I ran out of storage on my phone so I turned on my iMac (Catalina 10.15.3) and imported the photos from the phone. I selected the command, "Delete items after import." OK, that worked, and the photos were deleted from my phone. Now, for some reason, the photos are back on my phone in a folder called "My Photo Stream." When I select a photo from the photo stream album, the trash can does not appear. I have no idea what I did wrong.

I appreciate an ideas on how to get the photos off of my phone.
