Pages app has the download icon next to it, when I press it, it says I have to purchase app in App Store

How do I use Pages App if it won’t download from the App Store

I did try both suggestions from @Skydiver119 & @sberman and a lot of other things. Nothing seem to fix it.

It was actually a very simple fix. I just had to DELETE the App all together and then it did give me the option to Download from the App Store

I guess I was over thinking it TOO MUCH!!!

Have you tried to sign into the App Store then try to download it?

The purchase is tied to your Apple ID so when you’re signed in it should know that you are entitled to redownload it

Note the rectangle inside the circle on your lower screenshot. Press the rectangle to pause the download, then press it again to resume.

BTW this was happening with all of my Default iOS apps... Numbers, iMovie, GarageBand, etc...
