“powerd” is using %105 of the CPU !!!

Hi,

I searched online but I could not find any solution. I put the screen down but I saw that my Macbook Pro didnt sleep and the fan was working so fast and the temperature of the surface was so high. Then I checked Activity Monitor and I saw “powerd” is using %105 of CPU. I left my Macbook open for couple of hours and nothing changed.

I restarted my computer, I did SMC reset, NVRAM reset etc...but none of them solved the problem.

Did anyone had the same problem beforw ? And what can be the solution.

Hello Everybody,

I think I solved my problem. I took the charger off and left my Macbook Pro open until the battery finishes. And then I connected the MagSafe adapter again and opened my Macbook Pro. Guess what ? No fan noise, no slow machine, no unnecessary CPU usage, no powerd extreme CPU usage...the problem solved. I hope it will work for everybody who has the same problem.

Hello,

powerd is a core part of macOS. Processes that end with the letter d are generally daemons, essential parts of the operating system that run in the background and handle critical system tasks. This particular daemon, powerd, manages your energy consumption.

Hello,

I know the importance and necessity of powerd but my problem is the powerd is using all CPU and my Macbook Pro is working so slowly.

I did all the recommendations in your link but I still have the problem.
